There was celebration, even jubilation along with perseverance, frustration, adrenalin, exasperation but ultimately adulation and adoration.
It’s just some of the many feelings experienced during the record breaking 2017 Gold Coast Flathead Classic that finished up on Friday 30th September.
A record 670 anglers took part in the three-day tag and release event which has been hailed as the best run fishing tournament in this magnificent country of Australia!
Mates came together as 276 teams battled for more than $250,000 worth of prizes and give-aways.
Perennial frontrunners Lowrance Whyte Boyz dominated in returning to the highest podium amassing nearly more than double the points of the second placed Mad Hueys Heritage.
Naturally all teams dreamed of catching a couple of monster Flathead but for the far majority just being part of this event was more than enough.
For the Tackle World outfit ‘Team Jackson Lures’ the motivation is definitely set for the 2018 event having come together for the first time this year.
But if the 2017 event was hailed the greatest fishing event in Australia one can only imagine what heights 2018 will bring.
Event organisers have been proactive in gaining feedback from competitors to make next year’s even better which will be the Flathead Classics 25th anniversary.
One thing for sure when registrations open for 2018 get in early!
